Drive the FC 12 Hours straight???
You live in chicago also trueimport? lol nicee
but You will make it 12 hrs since the highway. You would be going 70+mph so your fan wouldn't be really useful and you really dont have to worry about overheating, all you have to worrie about is gas and **** stops. I've done about 10 hours just driving to a different state and back for no reason, It held up perfect =)

Guys here already did five 12h races in bone stock NA, never had problem. If your car is in good shape, u should not even think about something like this. 30 minutes or 12 hours makes no difference if things are working as they should.
You should always keep a spare alternator belt in your car, as well as a small set of sockets & wrenches. 10mm/12mm/14mm (socket + wrench of each size), a standard & phillips screwdriver, and a pair of pliers (and maybe vice grips), preferably with a cutter on them. Under a pound, and likely to be useful some day.
As for belts, the alternator belt is the only one you need to drive long distances. It turns both the alternator and the water pump, which are really the only things you need running. Smog pump, maybe, if you have cats, but it's not required.
Even if you have a dual pulley setup, you should still keep a spare belt. Both belts should be the same age (because you replaced both, right?), and if one fails and whips around, it may take out the other belt in the process.
Really, as long as you take care of your car, you should be just fine. Wayne posted his parts replacement schedule at some point, and it's very thorough. He also commutes a good distance to work daily in his car and has had very few problems. NAs especially are quite reliable when maintained properly (and premixing doesn't hurt either).

its too easy man, i recommend you take a extra pint of oil and by out, i did a 18 hour drive from orlando, fl to new york city only stopping to check oils while i gased up. only 3 gas stops and she ran fine. about cup holders and ****, well take a cap bottle and your fine. i took a really small *** cooler with like 2 water bottles and 3 redbulls on ice and 2 tuna sandwiches lol.
Indy to Manchester NH. Two days, 7 1/2 hours each on the way out, straight thru on the way back 6 days later. This was Thanksgiving, we stayed an extra day and payed for it. It snowed all the way from upstate NY through Penn and Ohio right to the Indiana state line on the way back, but the car was great in it.
In 2000 we drove it Indy to Sarasota, 18 hours straight thru both ways. IMHO that kid of stuff is what this car is best at, high speed long distance touring. On highway 75, on the downhill side of the mountains in Tenessee I had it at 100 mph for over half an hour and the temp guage didn't move a millimeter.

For what it's worth, I took my NA FC (1990 gtu) from Maryland to Texas and back this summer. No problems =) 1370 miles each way. Did an oil change about a week before I left.
Mostly highway, stops only for food and gas, between 12 and 14 hours of straight driving on the second day. Between 90 and 100mph most of the way, occasionally up to 125mph. =) Didn't see any police in VA, TN or AR.
Got a $170 ticket for 86 in a 70 in Texas though. =(

I drove my car back from AZ to Sacramento, which was 12 hours. I had to stop constantly for water, so I ended up fitting a styrofoam cooler into the driver's side storage bin, and just stashed a bunch of fluids in there. And you won't really have to stop to take a leak if you're driving through the desert with no A/C on a hot august day...you'll just be sweating it all out.
