Check your fluids and go for it.....We did a 13 hr drive @ 130 KMH pretty much the whole way....with an 88 vert. w/ a leaking metering pump....

I'd at least stop to take a leak.

not having a cupholder would bug me, but you could get a bottle of something a bag of food and you'd be set.

You'll be stopping for gas frequently enough, use that time to stretch/wake up. I drove from the Wisconsin border to Massachusettes only stopping for gas, wasn't too bad.

Haha, I drove my GTUs that far, poor car was almost never under 4k rpm. The car didn't really mind all too much, sitting at a pretty constant RPM isn't all too abusive.

I'd say go for it - Managed to get my '88 FC out on the road for 8 hours non-stop except getting petrol. It was lapping it up

Might need human fuel though for the journey... and possibly some good music if the rotary whirr doesn't do it for you

Ive done 7hrs before and didnt have a problem, its the extra 5. I will have plenty of tunes with me, 200+ CDs to choose from. Love the rotary sound, not for 12 hours straight tho.

Well, 4k rpm in a GTUs is roughly 80mph, 4500 is roughly 90, so, pretty much never under 80.

I'd be hesistant in mine.. . not because I think something's going to fail, but more because I only have 300 odd miles on my Megasquirt... And my exhaust would kill me.. I need to get a new exhaust..

I have driven a turbo kit 86 and 88 Vert 14 hours straight (with gas stops), about 3 times each. Just watch the right foot, as you get to 80 mph the mpg gets BAAAAD!

dude your rex will handle it. b4 i did my motor swap, i've taken my n/a motor from Washington state all the way to Lowsieanna. After the turbo swap it handled it fine from LA to North Carolina. Just take care of it and it will take care of you. Oh yeah, i'm with sureshot on the never below 4k thing also. each trip was at least 8hrs. sometimes 15 hrs. check all your fluids and give it an oil change blah blah blah. you'll be fine bro!

I drove mine from MN to Iowa without a problem. Except for the me getting tired stuff. Go for it and enjoy a roadtrip in one of Mazda's finest.

Drove my '88 base NA w/218k miles from CA to IL in 4 days. 1st and 3rd days were 12+ hour days. Desert, mountains, snow, rain. And this was after the car sat in storage for 2 years.

When I bought my last FC it was a 10th anniversary. I took a plain flight to the guys house and drove the car home from Huston TX back to Chicago IL with only one stop!!! So I say go for it!

Yea, Im not concerned about the motor as much as everything that helps run it, ex: ignition, cooling, various little things. The motor has about 30k on it, Mazda reman. Its just the small details taht worry me.
