drifting question

ok i was coming home the other day and decided to drift around a nice corner well everything went fine until i tried to come out of it maybe it was oversteer or something else but this car decided it wanted to stay sideways so i went to the other side the finally after some steering wheel wrestling i got it straightened out but what could i get that would eliminate this i now i need front struts and a new anti-roll bar what else could i get or is it i oversteered it ???

some driving skills are the only thing that would eliminate your problem. drifting is not learned through initial D

take a rally course or some sort of offensive driving school.

you WANT the back to stay out its more fun that way.

The way I control it is: keep the front wheels pointed in the direction you want to got (ie. the way the road goes). control the back end with throttlle. If your going to far out let off a little, if you want to swing further out give it some more
I usually rev up and down alot when im drifting, its a bit easier to control that way. kinda change the frequency of wheelspin if that makes any sence.

good luck. happy drifting

the rear steer on these cars make it hard to compensate for drifting

Like PoweroverFC said, Control your front by directing the front wheels with the car. And the the rear by accelerater, also if you start to slide out let off the gas and counter steer the front of the car till you straighten up. Just make sure you dont snap the back end back into place and its nice and smooth. Also if you really want to get technical tape your e-brake button down and pull it once to get the rear end out even farther just dont do it to a point of where the back is ahead of the front, no good can come from that

True...there are too many people out there thinking that since the cars in initial d can do it, so can I. IMHO, if you want to drift, you should get used to being sideways in a turn. It's a natural reaction for someone to automatically over countersteer thinking it will stop them from sliding. One way to get out of a drift is to get off the throttle a little.

Get some cheap narrow tires, find a safe open parking lot & go practice.
I got my license in Jan 1960 and spent most of that month sliding around a parking lot in a Morris Minor with bald tires.

It's kinda hard doing that now wihtout getting arrested! Go to your nearest SCCA sanctioned autocross. That's where I learned most of my car control.

Not that hard, just find some secluded parking lots.. and never stay at the same one long.

If you stay at the same lot for like.. an hour.. thats like asking for the cops to come. Parking lots arent that hard to find!

Yep, definetly keep moving parking lots, or go out to your industrial park if you have one, ive found 80% of them have nice wide roads.

Well driving hard in the rain is a lot more dangerous than driving hard when it's dry. Drifting in the rain is more of a guessing game. Yes it can be done, but the control over your car is less stable.

I would suggest getting some junk tires and mounting them on an extra set of rims, then take a trip down to an industrial area with big, wide open turns. Go at night when there's nobody around and make an escape route or have a place to hide...LOL...just incase you run into security or the police.

Definetly! as much fun as the rain is because its not as hard to get the back end out its also dangerous because you dont have half as much control. As Slidin Rx7 and I said go to industrial parks its fun, just if you find someone staying around that area or anyone in a car that would of seen you move to another location.

where did all these drifters come from???

these will help keep the car a bit more stable during a drift. The stock FC is unstable for longer/higher speed drifts.

1. flip your differential mounts upside down-- sounds wierd but it eliminates some wheel hop.

2. buy some toe-out eliminator bushings, or at the very least some new stock ones. FC's rear toes out during hard cornering which makes it feel unnatural/unbalanced and makes the car prone to snap oversteer.

Most of the industrial parks around me have a police station right smack in the middle.
