we would need more specs than just t3 turbo. t3 is just the type of flange it uses.

if you knew what you were talking about you wouldn't have made this thread. please search the archives and the proper sections. with the new turbine technology that's readily available asking about "spool time" is the totally wrong question to ask considering you said you weren't looking for huge power.

my friend has a t3/t4 on his car and it works great for him as far as spooling. it also depends on the rest of the set up. you can get a t4 mani with a t4 to t3 adapter and it will work.

the stock turbo spools just fine for me when im drifting btw. id only go with a bigger turbo for power gains. i have no problems keeping it sideways with the stocker though.

Ya i bought a T4 manifold then an adapter to switch it from T3 to T4 and then ibought a turbo with 63 AR on both housings. I think its ganna spool so fast and give decent power still at the top.

There no specs on that turbo at all, but in general T3 turbos are way to small for the rotary. The stocker is a "large T3" as it is.

dont see why you would change the stock turbo if your drifting unless maybe if your turbos shot, stay stock, it works good unless you need crazy hp and you dont to drift

Hiflow s5 turbo good for 230rwkw and awesome response on sensible boost.. the jap made ones tend to be the best, particularly the knightsports s320 and whatever one that FEED make.

I put i usdm s5 in my car meanwhile... whith the usdm turbo my car feels slower.

I think it just had a lot more miles than the jdm one...

I would do a stock S5 turbo with a SMALL compressor wheel upgrade like the BNR stage1 or 2 to preserve quick spool, but stick it in the T04B HiFI housing if possible for the added efficiency.

Open air vented external wastegate on the backplate to keep down boost creep with a huge single exhaust ( 3 1/2" JIC Spec 90 turbo back) and to sound good for judges.

The upgrade compressor is more a reliability thing to keep intake temps down as the stocker peaks at like 55% efficiency at stock boost and then the efficiency really drops off above 5,000rpm (according to Grassroots Motorsports project 88 TII).

If that is not crazy enough put the stock hybrid turbo on a divided equal length tubular manifold w/ external wastegate. Some of the Australian guys have done this and the dyno graphs showed insanely good low end and less drop off up top. No one will notice it is a stock hybrid, by looks or performance then...

i just recently did ALOT of research regarding my new turbo project...mainly concerning turbo sizing for my streetport 12a... and after much searching...many phone calls... and tons of posts from guys in the first gen section I settled on a Master Power T04B with a .96 a/r on the hot side and a 60 trim on the cold side.... I'm shooting for 12 psi and around 250-275 whp... and the master power is by far the best bang for the buck i found...500 bucks to my door... also it's my unerstanding that any turbo with a turbine A/R smaller than .83 or .87 (can't remember) will run out of breath before redline...hope that helps

Insta-boost?

Apexi RX-6

Or a small A/R GT35R.....something like a .84 backside will hit full boost around or before 3500rpm

My BNR Stage 4 gets boost around 1,300rpm and full 15psi 3,300rpm, but I would not call that a ultra quick spooling turbo-

compared to what can be done with a stock exhaust wheel and smaller compressor wheel.

The BNR retains the stock 1.00:1 AR exhaust side even if you put a larger wheel as AR is Area to Radius ratio of the exhaust housing. It is a small T3 sized 1.00:1 AR. The compressor AR will most likely be 60:1 using the TO4B 60-1 HiFi compressor section.

By using a huge wastegate positioned so exhaust flow favors the wastegate over the turbo you can keep the quick spooling "undersized" turbos from killing top end power.

uh you can do 250rwhp with an s5 turbo. there's no need to upgrade past like BNR stage 1 for drifting

I heart long 3rd gear slides, need a decent amount of power and a quick spool for good throttle input.

because drifting is not solely based on skill. your car should have enough power to make your ***** sink into your gut and make the rear end slide out with little to no ski.....errrr....effort.
