how did you manage to down shift into first.
Theres a lockout that prevents you from doing just that, unless you were going really really slow.

i rev match every down shift, and have never managed to put it in first gear going over 20km/h
got to the point where i just dont bother with first gear, id rather lug it around in second on a tight corner than fight with my tranny

1st gear has no synchro, that's why it's a bitch to get into. I know how to rev match, just that my most experienced friend in driving stick doesn't revmatch on downshifts, and since you slow down a heck of a lot faster if u don't I assumed it was the correct way to do it.
thanks for revealing to me the correct way to downshift.

Just to let you know. I had an '86 GXL that ran 12k... It had a cracked flywheel, no accesories whatsoever, electrical shorts everywhere, and a horrible Idle surge/ bucking....But it DID rev at 12k easily... (Of course I didn't care about the motor, I was dropping a new one in) So I blew it.........LOL So I wouldn't called pwrdby13b a liar, maybe his car sucks so bad, it actually DOES do it. Mine did.....(but it sucked ***)

yeah. I used to believe that.......hahahahahaha.... oh well, live and let learn I suppose.... It was my 150 dollar parts car though. I had to have fun. The guy totally fucked it up. He thought it was "race tuned" but it was just crap. I took what i needed, and I kicked the doors in, broke off the mirrors, blew the engine... I had a friend that dragged it off and dumped it.....HAHAHAHAHA it was fun!

Do you realize what happens when a clutch/flywheel blows up? Hint: Think of a hand grenade going off behind your engine.
Sorry. Just a random rant. Stock hardware is good to 8000 RPM. Beyond 8500 RPM you'd better have a scatter shield or such, and/or high RPM parts. I've seen pictures of a car that a clutch blew up in, and even with the scatter shield & such, it looked like a bomb blew up under it. If the scatter shield hadn't been in place, pieces would have gone through the driver's legs.
