I down shift at almost every stoplight and turn.

I use to rev match/heal toe/double clutch in my GTU when I had the NA tranny in it. The second gear syncro was bad so I couldn't downshift w/o a nice grind.

Makes you a better driver in the end though

What about the fuel cut when the throttle plates are closed, wolnt that be like your engine getting a fuel cut at high rpms?

Theres a lockout that prevents you from doing just that, unless you were going really really slow.
I don't know what your talking about, I do that at 25-30 mph regularly if AXing at Blackhawk Farms (www.blackhawkfarms.com) going into turn 1, just because 2nd is just too tall, and I just push past the lockout, all it is is a bit of pressure that helps hold it in my tranny, and I wanna keep it that way.

yea, there is no lockout, if you revmatch/heel toe, it goes in pretty easily, not as easy as other gears, but not hard either

my 1st gear syncro hates life too much to let me downshit into it at anything over 3k rpms.

i rev match every down shift, and have never managed to put it in first gear going over 20km/h

got to the point where i just dont bother with first gear, id rather lug it around in second on a tight corner than fight with my tranny

1st gear has no synchro, that's why it's a bitch to get into. I know how to rev match, just that my most experienced friend in driving stick doesn't revmatch on downshifts, and since you slow down a heck of a lot faster if u don't I assumed it was the correct way to do it.

thanks for revealing to me the correct way to downshift.

I HAVE to rev match when i downshift, otherwise my rear axle feels like it's going to snap, does that mean my syncros are toast?

Just to let you know. I had an '86 GXL that ran 12k... It had a cracked flywheel, no accesories whatsoever, electrical shorts everywhere, and a horrible Idle surge/ bucking....But it DID rev at 12k easily... (Of course I didn't care about the motor, I was dropping a new one in) So I blew it.........LOL So I wouldn't called pwrdby13b a liar, maybe his car sucks so bad, it actually DOES do it. Mine did.....(but it sucked ***)

yeah. I used to believe that.......hahahahahaha.... oh well, live and let learn I suppose.... It was my 150 dollar parts car though. I had to have fun. The guy totally fucked it up. He thought it was "race tuned" but it was just crap. I took what i needed, and I kicked the doors in, broke off the mirrors, blew the engine... I had a friend that dragged it off and dumped it.....HAHAHAHAHA it was fun!

12K - it's easy.
Just hook your tach to the leading coil - presto..

While you're at it get a metric speedo & label it MPH.

O.O You took an engine to 12k RPM with a CRACKED FLYWHEEL?

Do you realize what happens when a clutch/flywheel blows up? Hint: Think of a hand grenade going off behind your engine.

Sorry. Just a random rant. Stock hardware is good to 8000 RPM. Beyond 8500 RPM you'd better have a scatter shield or such, and/or high RPM parts. I've seen pictures of a car that a clutch blew up in, and even with the scatter shield & such, it looked like a bomb blew up under it. If the scatter shield hadn't been in place, pieces would have gone through the driver's legs.

u have nothing to worry about...AFM or MAF is sending very little air in(remember you are not on the gas pedal only have high rpm's....all new cars get 0 gas when coasting at any rpm...this saves gas and this is why you are supposed to leave it in gear when coasting...also..you can be at 6000rpm and turn of the car and leave it in gear...this equalls 0 gas and no chance of detonation.....also, no gas-no spark-no detonation!...even though the 7 always gets some gas(not like new cars)..another explanation:rev the car to 7000rpm and get off the gas, the throthle plates are closed when you let off the pedal-do you detonate?
get what I am saying?
