Downpipe Question

on my 91 T2..

i've already got a Corksport Catback.. and it has the classic annoying raspy metallic sound...

but i have stock straw like downpipe and my boost is falling off in the top end...

so I was wondering... if I purchase and install the Corksport 'power series' downpipe

will there be enough room between where the downpipe ends and the Catback starts to fit one of those 15" borla XR-1 Racing mufflers to kill the annoying honda like Raspiness?

I was intended on buying the XR-1 and getting flanges welded on the 2 ends and extended if necc. and basically make a 3 piece exhaust...

example of the XR-1:

will this work?

it's hard to tell, but I'm going to be trying about the same thing soon, just with cheaper components. stock cans with a muffler midpipe and straight downpipe. I'm looking for the same results you are and hoping it'll work. it will probably work well enough *shrug*

I said it'd probably work well enough. That's going to have to be good enough for me. There are many different exhaust setups out there and they're all different, so yes, this question isn't simple and I doubt any of us have a program that models exhaust system audio.

i'm not worried about the sound bro, i know the resonator will fix that

it's more the size i'm concerned about

I just wanna know..

from the Point where the CS down pipe ends.. to the point where the CS catback begins..

is there enough room for the Borla XR-1 plus 2 flanges? or do i need a smaller one

oh, my bad.

the corksport dp doesn't really go far back, right? and you're going to the y-pipe from the end of the dp? there should be PLENTY of room for a 15" muffler in between there. you'll have nearly as much room as however long the stock midpipe and cat are together, which is probably around 4 feet or so.
