Down pipe, and difference between LHD and RHD?

Hi Guys, Custom downpipe and exhaust system for a turbo, any difference between left hand drive and right hand drive cars?

I've just brought one and the supplier called me to say it was designed for a LHD so the downpipe wont fit! To be honest I think he just doesn't know what he's talking about because I cant see why it would be different.

Unless its something to do with chassis clearance, is the foot well area different from LHD to RHD?

He said they dont do RHD so I can send the downpipe back and get a refund on that section. Thats the main bit I wanted.

The best thing to do is trail fit the thing, but a heads up would be good.

They are exactly the same. The only difference I have ever seen is that the RHD ones don't have a pre-cat, but I am sure that is more a North American thing to have the pre-cat anyway.

I suppose one possibility is that the steering shaft might interfere?

They should fit no problem. The only problem that someone can have is when you buy an aftermarket T4 divided turbo exhaust manifold that was meant for a LHD car and try to fit on the RHD you will have a problem with clearance.

Your supplier is correct. The OEM downpipe for a LHD is different to the one for the RHD.
The downpipe for the RHD will fit both LHD and RHD cars.
However the opposite does not work. The RHD cars have the steering rack passing from the downpipe, therefore the downpipe is bent there

That's only on FD's though isn't it? because of the side exit on the turbo's
