To dowel or not to?

Would you recommend putting in extra dowels for an engine being rebuilt to run around 275-300RWHP?
I searched and found answers saying only needed for high horsepower. How high?

I've always seen 400hp as a point when dowelpinning should be considered.
Even at 400hp it isn't necessary. There are lots of people making more than that with no problems.

Yep. Don't spend the money on that if you are having an engine built.

Geez Node - I remember back in the day when you hade like no posts and knew as just much about 7's. You've come a long way dude.

Extra dowels definitely not necessary for 300 rwhp engine.
The figure I've seen most often for doweling a 13B is around 475-500 rwhp.
Lots of guys debate on when dowelling is necessary (if at all), but there isnt' really a downside to doing it.
You definitely won't need to for 300 rhwp though.

not sure if it is rear wheel or flywheel, just remember 400hp being tossed around lol.
If you're rebuilding your engine and think you might make more power one day. Then go ahead and dowelpin it. If not, don't worry.
