Double Throttle Diaphragm Quick Question
Double Throttle Diaphragm Quick Question
I was just wondering if anyone knew if the vacuum hose that is on the double throttle diaphragm which runs under the throttle body is a 3.5mm or 6mm hose? I need a new one, but didn't want to pull it untill I had a replacement. Thanks in advance.
Before I'd mess with it ......I'd put a piece of vacuum hose on the double throttle diaphrams nipple and suck. If the item does not move and won't hold a vacuum, cap the line off going to it until you can get a new double throttle diaphram.

You could remove the linkage for the outboard throttle plates with saftey wire and accomplish the intent of the Throttle Body Mod. It takes about fifteen minutes. Remove the rod encapsuled with the small spring and put on the shelf. Saftey wire the linkage to full open. Done.

The double throttle vacuum line should be connected into a "Thermal-switch" that is right where the Thermowax is. I'm not able to see what car you have, but regardless of the series and NA or TII, you should be able to follow the coolant hose coming from your BAC (Bypass Air Control Valve) into the throttle body.
There will be the thermal switch that should have two (or three if you have an automatic model) vacuum nipples. For manual I believe you should be able to plug the closer line from the throttle body into the double throttle diaphragm and the farther nipple should have a hose that goes to a vacuum port on the upper intake manifold.
Before any of that, make sure that your diaphragm is working and not leaking air, it should hold vacuum and if it does not then find a replacement or just don't connect any vacuum lines there and leave it open, otherwise it is an instant vacuum leak.
You can find a full service manual, including vacuum line diagrams at Foxed.ca
