Many folks use the bracket off a stock head unit since it's double din as well.

crutchfield.com is pure garbage.... they have lack of selection all they offer is clareon UNIVERSAL... which doesnt state wether or not it comes with mounting brackets or if its just the rim... i tried there weeks ago...

@hozzmanrx7
i bought the car without a stereo unit... i currently have a sony wx7700mdx which came with no mounting hardware...

well... imma try Scosche MA2030B / MA2030 from http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ hopefully this works... if not i'll have to keep looking...

This DOES NOT fit double din units, I purchased this exact kit at fry's and just 20 minutes ago realized there is nothing in there that fits a double. Very disappointing.

use the sides off the old stock head unit.Screw it to the new unit and then to the car.
You may need to get creative to make it neat with a face to surround the deck though.
A 7 inch Double Din is a pretty good fit,.I had a 6.1 inch screen and had to make something around the display to clean it up.

BTW,nice thread revival.,.Jesus would be proud..

Scosche# MA1530B is the correct one, it works for FB and FC. The FC requires using the side 'plates' from the kit which will fit like the stock brackets that Styx mentioned. Having used both this kit and the stock brackets, I much prefer the stock ones. Styx's method works fine, but I decided to do things slightly different and nudge my double din headunit (JVC KW-XR810) to the top of the opening and fab up a filler panel for the bottom for useful things like a USB pass-through for my haltech and other assorted cleverness.

If all else fails, I have a no-name FB/FC install kit somewhere that I know will fit a double din. Free to good home

I bought a stereo at Best Buy for the kids 86 GXL and they had to manufacture one themselves. It took the guy 6 hours to install the new stereo and speakers and was worth every cent of me not doing it ($0 since I bought the stereo there, lol...)

I am an installer and I worked for Best Buy for six years (I now work for Car Toys) and I would REALLY like to know why that took 6 hours to do. You just use the factory brackets and if it is a smaller screen, you just make a trim ring from ABS or spare parts and be done with it.

I really want to see pics now of that install! Pretty please!

That guy was like, "YES! I finally get to work on a cool car! I better make this take as long as possible..."

Followed by a joyride

I had work done by a local group in my state and that's pretty much what they did on mine and it took like less than half that time. I am interested in seeing what they did too.
