There should be a sensor on the door that is faulty/ It compresses and sends a signal to your ecu. Perhaps it's worn out

is there anyway to test the door pins? could it be the switch or the wiring?

If the dome light is staying on, then the door pin is on, or the wire is shorted.

The two use the same wire

if you push it in it still stays on, shorted hmm.....just started after I ran some speaker wire under the plastic door jam thingy. Maybe I screwed it through the door pin wire.

ah, the running board cover... sokay... I understand now.

Yeah, if you missed a screw hole or pinced a wire when you removed that you could be shorting out the door trigger wire (Blue/White)

Blue wire, white stripe.

(and probably brown or red or silver dots- but you don't care about dots, they just reference what harness the wire is running in)

Now don't you feel stupied???

75% (maybe more) of the problems posted here with RX-7s are caused by the owners, not with the car.
