Doing motormounts tomorrow, any useful tips
Anything that could make this go smoother? I know there are going to be the toughest 14mm bolts Ive ever encountered. Where should I jack the engine up from?

Nurse I need 1300cc's NOW
if you can get get a engine hoist that would be even better and easier. but if you cant get one a guess a block of wodd and a jack will work. just try to jack it up from anywhere solid. not from the center of the oil pan!!

you HAVE to use a hoist. doing it from the oil pan is a huge pain in the *** and a bad idea. even a comealong and a tree is ok.
the blots are actually relatively easy to take off, just make sure you only lift the engine a very little bit at first. lift it just enough to get the weight off, loosen all bolts, then lift it the rest of the way.

The Cause of Death
I replaced the oil pan on my car last week, and it involved jacking the engine up with the mounts out, soooo.....
I had a lift when I did it, so I'll tell you what I did, then I'll talk about doing it without a lift (on the floor).
Alright, first get that bitch up in the air, then get a tranny jack or something that can raise up, and is strong enough to hold the trans and motor in the air. Put a block of wood in between the jack and wherever you're going to prop it up from, I used the bellhousing of the transmission (right BEHIND the oil pan, if you're looking from the front of the car). Put the piece of wood in place, then jack it up very slightly, just so you see it move a little bit. There are two bolts on the passenger side mount that go in through the oil pan. And another one to the right of those two bolts, then the one bolting the mount to the frame. Remove all of them. There should only be two bolts for the one on the driver's side (easy). Next raise the tranny jack a little bit at a time, until the mounts will slide right out. They should slide right out, rather easily, depending on how much you jacked up the transmission and motor. Installation is the reverse, make sure you put the two bolts that go into that mount on the pass side (through the pan into the motor) in first, cause things might get uneven when you put it back down. I learned that the hardway, had to take em out and do it again.
If you're not on a lift, get the car on jackstands high enough to slide under it. Get a jack with a piece of wood and slowly start to jack up the trans/engine a very little bit. Take all bolts out, and the 14mm nut on each mount. Get the trans/engine a little higher, slide them out. And do everything the rest of the way. Do not jack anything up by your oil pan, it will crush. Go from the transmission, it's strong enough.
Good Luck,
James

Just do it. It's stupid simple. All you need is jack stands, floor jack with a good lift distance a piece of wood and hand tools. Driver side will give you some bloody nuckles but nothing too bad. Good luck.

Done, Done and Done. Took me about 2 hours including having to go to a friends house and get a different jack and taking 15 mins to get the one top drivers side bolt on. ******* thing.
