Does this sound ok????

Hey guys
Im on the verge of buyin a rx7 2nd gen 89 GXL with 1000 on a fully rebuilt motor with 1 yr warranty. Chasis has more then 100k on it. The exterior is in ok condition and the interior is ALL GUTTED OUT except the seats. The person is letting it go for $3500. What do you guys think. I need it as a daily driver so will it be real hard to find the interior cause i cant drive w/out the interior u knw. BTW he has slips to prove that hes runing low 13's. His best was 13.2 and its N/A ..all motor.
What u guys think?

Tnx

No N/A w/o nos will get a 13.2. Some of the fastest N/A; on this forum are only running low 14's.

I can BS. Plus $3500 is too much for a gutted daily driver. I say you keep looking. Good N/A's are not terribly difficult to come by. Its the TII's that are rare.

13.2 is near unbelievable for an all motor N/A. i don't know if slips really prove anything. there is a sort of contest going on here where if you can get your n/a into the 13's you'll be refunded the price of the standalone computer you bought (that's almost $1000). which 13's should be near impossible without the computer. $3500 would be a good price if he could show you the car running 13's and give you all the undamaged interior he removed. other wise i'd say it's not worth more than $2200... and most of that is for the warranty. if the exterior isn't perfect then i would but it even lower.

If you look hard you can find one for 1K or less and put the 2500 difference in to cool go fast stuff. I paid 500 for a 91 needing a motor with a mint interior. I'll spend under 1K on a motor, another 1k on paint and still can spend 1k on performance exhaust, etc. Plus, I know this thing will run for a long time.

Maybe the new engine is a peri-port full race engine (i doubt it, but no one knows). Before you say 13.2 is impossible, you need to know whats under the hood. Don't judge a book by its cover.

You have a good point ZINX, however in the interest of keeping this thread "on-point", a full race p-port is nowhere near streetable - which is what the original posted is purchasing the car for.

I still say find another N/A.

The first thing is that someone posted to get the interior...i asked him and he said he "threw" away the interior.
Thats the first thing.
The second thing is that the exterior is a 7 froma scale of 1 to 10. If its possible ill ask him if i can take pics of engine and the exterior and let u guys decide, the thing is that the moonroof sticks up a little and kinda rusted and stuff. I will ask him if we can take it to the track and c what he runs. The one other thing is that i need a car in less then a month ...to b exact 20 days cause i wont have a car after that, so if i were to buy just the chasis of the rx7 then how much would a engine cost which is in good shape? Since its going to be a daily driver i cant afford it to breakdown on me every now and then.

BTW im located in chicago so if anyone can point me soomehwere where i can find something good then plz let me knw...i already looked through autotrader.
Thanx guys..i really appreciate this. Good thing i came here first instead of just jumping in thinking $3500 was a good price.
