Does anyone know where the most inexpensive n/a motors are?
I am in a big delimma..I have a V-8 to start working on, but I love the rotary and I want to keep it..I have been torn between doing the V-8 swap or just buying a Rebuilt N/a ..I would love to find one for around 1000 dollars..I just need weblinks to people that sell them for cheap..The cheaper the better..I don't have any links to look at. Anyone know where I can get one from?? I am not sure about rebuilding mine, I would rather just buy a rebuilt one and go with it..Let me know before I make the V-8 swap a reality..

I hate to say it, man, but if power is what you're after, sell your car and buy a TII. This comes from one who has never owned a TII, but I do know that TII's are a much better starting point for a powerful car. I just don't care too much for the short lifespan, but you have to decide which is the lesser of the two evils, power or life...
You will also come out cheaper in the long run, and end up with a much more streetable car.
Either that, or do the V8 swap. You will probably spend about the same in mods by going either route, for the same power.

but if you want a car that can be quick in the 1/4(not real fast, but still beat local ricers) and maintain excellent handleing, keep your N/A.
I say go for the street port. just don't excpect to run 11's.
But that's just my opinion

I'm afraid the point ends up being what you want outta the car.
1. semi-cheap, fun, and fast car=RX7 NA or TII
2. haulin-***** drag car= highly modded TII or good ole V-8's
sounds to me like you want option 1.
the bigger the port the less low end power you will have. Is this a daily driver? I'd prolly go with a good "middle ground" port(1 or 2) so you can have some fun yet retain some reliability.
Good luck

After shipping and such, they cost about as much as atkins.

not exactly...I could get an N/A rebuilt with them and have it shipped for $17-$1800 (I live near Amarillo, BTW)...also (I think, it's been a while since I talked to them so don't take offense) I think they only use the 3mm if you request it. I was getting the 3mm seals and the engine street ported and having it shipped for $2100. Well...I guess that is close to Atkins...unless you wanna drive to Calgary...

The added detonation protection isn't really necessary on an NA like it is on a TII. Plus, if you break the 2mm seals, you may still be able to use the same rotors for 3mm seals.

I just want to retain the Rx-7 nostalgia. I know I won't be running 12's or anything, but I will have the only Streetported Rx-7 in my area. I love the power and drivability of the Rotory..I always have. I had an 90 model and I like my 86 as much or more. I wasn't into the tuning scene when I had the 90 model..Had the old lady thing going and she hated the car..I loved it..Got rid of her and got into the tuning thing..You figure at least 500 for the install kit on the V-8 and then figure in the Parts for the V-8 and I am already looking at 1500 or more..I have a 327 and a 305..I am going to sell them and live up to my tag...NOPSTNS....Rotory is the way to go..I have to talk to Kevin and Decide which streetport. I think I would like to say I have a streetported motor..It gives me a good feeling knowing all I have to do is pull the motor, take it to him..Get it back then break it in..Not to mention the New clutch I will have to buy to hold the extra hp's from putting a new motor in..I think it is well worth the 1200 dollars I will spend getting it done..It should raise my Rev limit right..I will have to find away to get around the fuel cut at 7200 rpms, but I am sure I can find that somewhere..Turboren, you have tooooo manny Rx-7's why don't you ship me one of those TII's..I really just want to restore mine..I love it and am dedicated to it..It is a one of a kind where I am from. Nobody has any..I am probably the only one around..There may be a couple of beaters around somewhere but none like mine..Vert wheels, S5 tails. And a big ole Apex-i Dunk muffler, soon to be Duals..Hey I love my car what can I say..Well any suggestions on that fuel cut, let me know..Thanks...

I just bought a rebuilt motor from Kevin @ rotary resurrection. I have it streetported and everything for less than $1500. I'm still waiting for it to get here so I can put it in. - Steve
