Does anybody know how to.....
test the Metering Oil Pump Sensor?? I know it is in a manual out there somewhere (and yes, mine is on order). My 1990 GTU throws that code, I have taken the pump off and it is clean and moves freely, after I clear the code, it comes up again and limps. I would like to test the sensor before Mazda bends-me-over for a new one (any ideas how much a sensor costs)?
Thanks for your help,
Hope this is not a newbie question, but I could not find ithe answer anywhere

Go to http://www.fc3s.org goto the howto then service manuals, and download for the appropriate year, this requires you have adobe acrobat (available at http://www.adobe.com ) Good luck!

I'm not sure what the cost is. I'm sure it's quite a lot, especially since a used electronic pump is around $150. I would expect around $300-400, but I'm not exactly positive. You may want to check http://www.mazdatrix.com/ and see if they have them.

K...But....
If I ditch the pump and run 2-cycle, the sensor still has to be calibrated right or it will still throw a code even if the pump's intestines have been gutted, right?, or wrong?
I don't mind running 2-cycle, but I don't want to gut the pump and run into the same problem with the sensor(if thats what it is).

Theres a electric oil metering pump on eBay, I saw it last night. I'd go with the manual one though, it's what I got, works fine.
P.S. watch those stupid oil lines when you remove it, there made out of old barbie dolls and leisure suits.

Ummmmm....WTF?
K, I went to FC3S.org and downloaded the manual section to test my metering pump....WHERE THE F$@# is the 72 pin connector to the ECU?! or is it a different connector on a 1990 than on a 1989?

OHHHHHHHHHHHH
Gotcha....
Since Everyone here is so knowledgable....I'll try another question..
I tested the resistance on my stepping motor and each circuit gave a reading of 0 - 1 ohms. The manual calls for 19-23 ohms. This maybe a dumb question (but i don't know jacks%#$ about ohms), does that mean the stepping motor is bad since the continuity has such a high reading?
If it is bad, can I run two cycle with out getting an error code after I gut the pump?
Thanks.
