Do you want a T04?

Hey fellow speed freaks!

I found two new T04s for sale on ebay. I only need one, so I was wondering if someone out there that wanted the other one that would be willing to split the price with me.

Also, if anyone has any feedback on this turbo, please leave your comments.

I would not bother with that turbo on any rotary. Much too small. Whatever compressor is in that T04B housing, its not a 60-1, which is the one most FC guys use.

Either a T04B with 60-1 compressor (2.324" inducer/ 3.000" exducer).

Or a T04E "60" trim (2.290" inducer/ 2.950" exducer).

Both of these are very suitable for rotary applications and 350+ whp between 12-15 psi.

because a T4 turbo is different and much smaller....

those turbo looks pretty good to me... if anything the exhuast is too big. 1.15 will be some pretty slow spooling. you'd want a big ported engine and you'd only get top end.

54mm compressor wheel is very small. That's 2.12". Compare that to the 3" of the 60-1.

That turbo would be fine. It would probably spool decently quick due to the smaller compressor wheel, but wouldn't overspin because of the 1.15 a/r. Not to mention it will probably go for pretty cheap.

T4 is a turbine/compressor wheel/housing. Garrett's equivalent to the Turbonetics 60-1 and T04 series all use the T4 turbine wheel in different trims / housings. Many hondas use the t3/t4 hybrid to take advantage of the larger t4 (t04) compressor side while still using a small t3 turbine.

"60 trim" is simply a 60-1 wheel in any compressor housing other than the true 60-1 housing (4" inlet).

And Evil, I think you mixed up the inducer/exducer terminology and numbers. The inlet of the compressor housing is smaller than the outlet of the compressor housing. Inducer and exducer are just other words for compressor and turbine.

The most "common" RX-7 recommendation is a true 60-1 with a .70 a/r compressor and the .96 a/r turbine.

It's late, but this is what my minds serves me - correct me if I'm wrong.

hmm...

well AFAIK, each wheel (ie compressor and turbine) has measurements given is 2 different spots, ie inducer and exducer. Maybe I am wrong about that

But, the Garrett T04E "60" and T(04B)60-1 do not have the same comp wheel.
