it would depend on the port, like if it was milled to open earlier, that would cause a little overlap

yes they sound different. its really more dependant on the size of the EXHAUST porting, since thats where the air leaves the engine and out the muffler. but yeah, generally, ported rotaries sound more "blatty"

Like they said, the exhaust port has a much bigger impact on the exhaust sound. Most of the time, the exhaust port is ported along with the intakes according to the size of the intake porting so people associate the louder sound with the bigger port.

If you want to know, pull the inake and exhaust manifolds and check the ports for evidence of work.

Otherwise it's just guessing. A "street" port won't effect sound that greatly and should not effect vacuum readings.

More radical porting will make a large difference in both.

Pretty much echo what Aaron said. you start getting to the different sounds when you hit bridge port, and your really just hearing a lumpy idle :P

It depends on the size and timing of the porting. As with anything else, when overlap is introduced, the sound will change. Mine doesn't sound stock. It's lumpy.

See we thought it was bad TPS/ leak/ other sensors, and we replaced all sensors and a ton of other stuff. the motor came from Japan with a Pan sport ECU. It makes 242 hp at 11 psi on stock S5 turbo. I just figured it had a massive port.

Did you have that dynoed personally... sounds a bit made up..

Just because u replaced the sensors if u did not put them in spec (adjust them properly) they will act up.

Maybe a bad ECU

You have the WuTang port

I have a street ported motor. The exhaust was ported earlier and the over lap wasn't changed too much. It still sounds about the same as it did before porting. With the exhaust port, it's just a little louder, but not too much.

well maybe ill pull it off some rainy day when i have nothing to do. I thought this all because i have a lot of power in my N/A...more than what ive normally seen. It has more power than my friends turbo II. and the idle is wierd and sometimes sounds like it is missing...and just sounds...well a lil different. The car was owned by a rotary shop 2 owners before...
