One you take it out and make a blockoff plate.. you still need to put a standpipe in the oil crossover hole before you put the cover back on. The oil is still going to go through it, ,but it will just dribble back into the pan.
I made my blockoff plate out of 1/4 inch aluminum

Sorry, my freakin website is down....
BUT..... if you look in your picture above... you can see the oil tract for the OMP running through the front cover... its the bump below the gear that runs across the cover, then does a 45 degree upwards and hits the side wall right below that little hole on the left side of the cover that is just above the socket where the dowel slide into the front cover..
That little hole is the oil supply to the OMP. and it will still have pressure in it when you put the thing back together and you want to make sure you don't black it up with the goop or you could have problems with leaks.
Now then,, a stand pipe is just a metal tube that you slide in that hole (press it into the matching part of the front iron actually) so that RTV doesn't get into the hole. I used a piece of an old radio antenna. its only got to be like 1/2 an inch long and stick out just enough so that it keeps RTV from getting int the hole when you put it back together.
