PA Do I need to remove the driveshaft?

I going to remove the engine and tranny this weekend, and was wondering if I need to remove the driveshaft from the rearend. I was wondering if the tranny will just slide out while removing the engine.

There should be no reason to remove the driveshaft from the differential.

Don't forget to remove the shifter or bad things happen, see https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/1987-tii-transplanted-into-1986-a-832727/.
Don't forget to put a mark across the shaft and tranny for alignment during reinstallation.

May as well, it takes two seconds and is by far the easiest part of the removal. Otherwise you may damage the driveshaft when it slides out of the back of the tranny and goes *clunk* on the floor.

Just don't forget to drain the gear oil from the transmission before pulling it. Otherwise the driveshaft will pop out, and you'll have an oil slip n' slide under the car.
