Hey guys im not exactly new to RX7club but this is my first time posting so bear with me... I currently am in the process of swap a ford 8.8 out of a 2005 explorer into my FC and there is a couple photos of people who have done the swap themselves and i had to really dig to find them, I know theirs some people who have done the swap themselves and would like to see how difficult it was or if there is any pics ? any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

It is a lot of work considering the Ronin kit is $800 and will do the job with a little welding. You'll basically be copying their kit using the 05 Explorer diff. Most people used the Cobra 8.8 diff which mounts differently.

Are you going to change the gearing and add some kind of limited slip?

yes currently my car is powered by a built 355 small block Chevy with a nice 4 speed and and i know this is not ideal and alot of people will have there opinions its what i got and im rolling with it so with the four speed and the Stock NA diff being a 4.1 ratio my car cannot get over like 80 MPH so i am going to be switching to a ford 8.8 (im welding the diff) for its durability and its vast gearing choices, I know many people may say why not just throw the 4 speed away and swap to a 5 speed or 6 speed but that still will not fix the issue of having a weaker diff and terrible gearing options

No, that is great, run it. What ratio does your rear end have? It will either be 3.55 or 3.73. 3.55 will be the best of the Explorer ratios. Swapping to a 3.31 will be really good.

FWIW I have the Ronin 8.8 kit in my FC. There is lots of documentation about ford swaps over on norotors.

I currently have a 3.55 but im considering swapping in a 3.31 because i have a close ratio transmission, im not worried about any of swapping the gears and going that work i just want to draw some inspiration and see if theres anyone who has pics of there process because i know that i will be swapping it myself and fabricating it all and if im successful im even considering selling a "kit" to help some others out... here is the link one of the threads im talking about where they 8.8 swapped it themselfs i will not follow this method but still nice to draw inspiration from
