I'm going to look at a few 7's this weekend and I'd like to do a compression test on them. I'd rather not take them to a dealer if I can avoid it (I'm cheap), and I was wondering if there was any way to do a "proper" compression test myself. I've done a search already and looked through the archives, but I can't find anything on doing it yourself. Can you just treat it like a piston compression test?

 

do you have a compression gauge kit?

 

I gotta jump in here. If there is a reliable/accurate DIY compression test technique then I will pick up a compression test kit immediately. Any recommendations on kits? And please explain the DIY technique.
