Not all tapwater is the same. Some is filtered better than others with less minerals. Ive never had a problem with using tap water in my cars

I had a water jacket crack and leak coolant into the motor and out of the exhaust on one of my previous fcs because of using cheap coolant and tap water.I only use prestone premix safe for aluminum engine parts and nothing else.

Because of the PH issues and often high concentrates of silicates and phosphates, tap water should never be used.

Using tab water high in phosphates will reduce the anti-corrosion capabilities of the coolant, and using high silicate water will result in premature failure of pumps and seals. The minerals and ions typically found in tap water can be corrosive to internal engine components, and can cause a more rapid depletion of the anti-corrosion additives found in most antifreeze formulations. Toss in the bacteria and algeas that are typically found in most home faucets and hoses, that are killed and not killed by heat (remember the cooling system only hits mid 200's), and now you additional deposits in the motor.
