Dissapating heat
Anyone have any simple ways to try to dissipate heat coming from the transmission area on the FC? Get constant hot air coming though and not really sure what I can do to prevent it from coming inside. Possibly making thicker heat shields?

If you had a heat shield issue, your passenger side carpet would melt, and since you said "hot air coming through" I am going to guess the rubber shifter boot. Is the rubber shifter boot present below the leather one? If it isn't than there lies your problem.

Cool thanks guys and yeah I have no boot in there whatsoever. Just remove the boot and you see trans and straight floor haha.
I'll see when I can get ahold of a kit.

My 87 has hot air coming up from the shifter too. When I took the shift boot off it was obvious that the rubber boots below had disintegrated. Could easily see daylight coming through. It's a simple fix but does involve taking apart part of the dash iirc.

The other part to really stopping the heat flow is that there should be a layer of insulation in there. It is about an inch thick, covers the entire top area and slides over the shift lever.
I noticed this some years back when we did some tranny work and did not put everything back together for a short period of time.

And make sure that ALL the under body heat shields are in place. If you can see directly down past the transmission to the ground, it makes me think there are a few missing.
