Disconnecting Power Steering
I recently took off the power steering belt to see how driving without it feels.. and I wanna keep it disconnected.. at least for a little while.
Is there anything I should disconnect or anything like that if I want to keep the pump and lines installed? Like the speed sensing function or anything of that sort?

Removing the PS belt while leaving everything else intact is the worst of all ideas.
It does not drive anything like a true manual rack and leaves you fighting seals and fluid that are no longer doing their jobs.
Either go full manual or put the damn belt back on.

To actually answer your question yes you can just have the belt off.
If you want to go ahead and remove the pump/lines and actually depower your steering rack here is a decent write up: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/how-de-power-your-steering-rack-right-way-439979/
There are plenty of these types of threads if you just search.

hey clokker eat a dick...
I only took off the power steering belt to see how it felt for a quick run.. for the hell of it..
I've already spray painted my windows and left just enough space to see out of the front windhsield... think of cyclopse from x-men... looks bad ***
I run with deflated tires cuz they heat up on the highway at higher speeds and inflate on their own anyways
I was looking for actual advice you ********.. no need to flame.. and I didnt see any threads when I searched for power steering disconnect

Everyone says they search, but noone knows how to search, so of course you don't find anything. Try using the search function and playing with settings, searching only titles is good sometimes, as well as searching for only threads with over a certain amount of posts. The info is here you just need to find it. Everyone wants the info handed to them and that is what people on this forum get tired of.
If you knew the first thing about power steering you'd never have started this thread because it'd be obvious how silly the idea is.
And please, if you must be condescending and insulting, be more original.

If I knew how the insides of a power steering system worked (it's steering that's powered?
) I wouldn't be asking questions in a forum would I?Everyone else thanks for the useful references.
