Disabling the oil bypass thermostat?

In the bruce turrentine video: Overhauling Mazda's 13b, there is a modification section. One of the mods is to permanently open the oil bypass thermostat so that there is no warm up period and no chance of it being stuck closed and not letting out oil.

Is this a common mod for FC rx7s? Is it recommended? What can go wrong. I couldn't find anything in search, only oil cooler thermostat info.

BTW, his method for disabling it is to place a measured (.4 inches I believe) cut piece of bolt into the e-shaft pulley bolt and epoxy that so it always has the spring in the open position.

Yeah this is a common mod. Mazda designed the thing for emissions reasons but it can fail and starve the rotors of oil to cool them.
