I just bought a 1990 RX7 (haven't owned a rotary in 15 years so I'm back in the family again).

This car has the factory alarm system in it. If I leave the car unlocked and close the door, when I come back to the car and open the door, the alarm goes off. It's really annoying/embarrassing at the gas station.

How can I either disable the alarm system, or at least only enable it when the car doors are locked? Basically, if the car doors are unlocked, I don't want the alarm to go off just by opening the door.

You can keep thr system from arming by jumping the hood latch switch. On my 91 vert jumping the harness on the car side kept the system from arming.

Sounds like the CPU is gone haywire, my s5 the horns goes off at random times.

yeah the alarm on my s4 gxl used to go off randomly lol
