The best course of action is to drill out the pins holding in the stock ones, and use a set of turbo sleeves without the diffuser (they get pinned back into place). Then you have no diffuser, and the exhaust port is basically that of a turbo II.

I keep rotorhousings from turbo motors that arent useable in rebuilds for this purpose. I can sell you a set (still in the housings, you have to remove them, and since you have to do your originals, there is no point in me fooling with these when you will have everything necessary to do them) for $40 plus shipping.

Kevin,
We've found that drilling them out is time-consuming and risks damage to the housing. A good slap hammer fitted with the porperly sized body screw will have the pins out in seconds. Just be sure not to snap the screw in the pin, or you're really out of luck.

In my humble opinion, taking the pins out is the hardest part of the job. With a hammer as suggested, they pop right out.

As for removing the diffuser, torch it all the way. Just don't wildly warp the sleeves.

On a side note evenly heat the area with the torch to prevent warpage

If you use a dremel with some bits that are meant to cut through hardened steel, then you can cut the difuser down so that the hole is round. Yes, the metal insert will still be pinned to the rotor housing. This will help keep the heat away from the aluminum a bit more. It really wouldn't be hard to pull the pins and relpace the steel inserts with a set from a turbo motor. That would be a lot easier then cutting out that hard *** steel.

the pins are on each side of the rotorhousing, the sides that can only be seen while the engine is apart.

The pin is in the area where I circled in red. Should be one on each side

There are two seperate pins. Pull the pin towards you, then turn the housing around and pull that pin toward you. Then you can pull the steel insert out.
