A different type of NOS question...

This should prolly be in the performance section but no one goes there really. Does NOS make your engine run hotter or colder? The basic idea of NOS makes me think that it would run cooler but I am really thinkin the extra stress on the engine will make it run hotter, is that right? Thanks.

I am not a nitrous expert by any means but what i was told is that the nitrous cools the air but then there is more combustion which makes your engine run hotter. i know it sounds weird but to answer your question more directly your engine will run hotter. (although i could very well be wrong) good luck!

Any time you make more hp, you will run hotter. More combustion=more hp and more heat.

Thats what I figured, just the NOS just gives me the idea of colder air. How much hotter will you run? I like to run as cool as possible. Thanks.

With how short of a time you use NOS, the water temp probably wont go up more than 5-10 degrees. You wont mess anything up as long as you dont go too big of a shot.

Well I am looking at a 50 shot at first and maybe moving up to a 75 shot later. Only running 1/4 miles, thats it. Shouldn't hurt anything right?

You don't really have to worry about the engine heat if you tune the car right. A NOS bottle will last maybe 40 seconds of WOT before it's all used up. The benefits of the much cooler intake charge can negate the increased temp in the combustion chamber, for a short period of time if the right amount is used. Meaning, yes the engine will run hotter briefly, but the mixture will be cool enough that it won't detonate. Bottom line though.... if you run too hot... you detonate, that's why NOS is so tricky.

Hope that made sense?

Indeed I agree with everyhone here. the NOS is colder, which is the reason that it makes more HP among other things. The extra HP indeed makes more heat in the process. The period of use of NOS usually won't even make your temp gauge read different. At least it never does to mine.
