Differences between Turbo II and 10th AE

After doing some research, this is what I came up with.

10th AE fender badges
Crystal white paint
White painting TII rims
Bronze tinted windows
S4 black leather interior
10th AE floor mats
Headlight squirters
Momo 10th AE steering wheel
10th AE shift **** and boot
Motion detecting alarm
10 AE key set

Is that all the differences?

Yea, I knew of the AE being heavier because it had all the power options and power steering along with AC. Never knew it came with a car cover.

10th AE floor mats

Yea, what's really weird about the painted trim and tailights is that my GXl has that too. The triim pieces on the sides and the tailight surround is painted to match the body on my car too. Maybe the headlight squirters were and option or something?

Your '87 TII is also a Canadian model, which had the headlight squirter option... The only US model to have them was the 10AE, so that is in fact a difference...

Unless your GXL is a S5 model, then your paint job is aftermarket... The 10AE was the only S4 to have body colored mouldings... Again a difference...

To the original poster, the 10AE also featured a leather bra with the Anniversary logo emblazoned in the center... Oh and it was available with the Mazda Finish Line glass moonroof in matching bronze tint (also available through Mazda for other models, so technically not a difference)...

As far as I understand it the bra and car cover were optional. For those who look here to see if they have a real 10th or not... the paint code is UC found on the plate under the hood on the passenger side. If yours is not UC then you have a clone.

13B4ME Do you happen to know the part # on that glass moonroof? I would like to see if I can find one.

I know for a fact my car does not have an aftermarket paint job. That same color paint was done on the entire car, no-where is it a different color than what appears on the outside.

and I know for a fact that you do, you can repaint stuff th eSAME color you know, or take it to MAzda and just have them paint th etrim and tails off the car. No Rx-7 came like that not even 10th AE cause 10th AE was white (then it had th etrim and tails painted)

Your aero mirrors are not painted? Nice paint job someone did a fine job on it. Mine was stripped to bare metal and I imagine yours was also.

Wrong... You have an aftermarket colormatching job... Once again the 10AE was the ONLY S4 FC with matching paint on the mouldings and taillights straight off the showroom floor... Anything otherwise is an aftermarket paint job, whether it be your factory color or not...

tinvestor I'm not sure of the numbers for the roof... Icemark should be able to reference the numbers rather quickly for you...

They're pretty hard to come by. I believe they go for around $300, sometimes more, sometimes less.
you can try the for sale section or the wanted section on the board.
also try ebay.

I'd love to repop them, I know a guy who does all types of auto glass and PC.
Basically, it's too expensive for the molds to make a real glass sunroof.
Even if I had confirmation for hundreds of them, it wouldnt' be cost effective unless I could sell thousands.

but PC is a possibility, just kinda on the backburner now........

Ditto on what 13b4me said, that's an S4 car that has been repainted. Also Icemark has lots of info on the S4 series differences...

The bra, carcover and pillow came together as one option
the motion ( glass breakage) alarm is an option too
I have the window sticker.

P.S. The center part was not on the car in the pic because of the rain

The colormatching job on the trim and tails must be damn near perfect, because the paint matches the car exactly. Also, the crazy thing is that there's no overspray on the tailight lenses or by the trim pieces. The aero mirrors are not painted because they are not the mirrors that came with the car. The mirrors that came with the car were the regular S4 non-aero mirrors and I bought the S5 power mirrors when I broke my driver's side one. If this car was repainted, they did a damn good job on it, because it looks like a factory job. The car would have had to been completely stripped because the entire interior is the same color underneath too so my guess is that the trim and tails were just painted early in the car's life to match.

10th AE shift **** and boot
10th AE key set
10th AE heavier due to power options
10th AE came with bra, car cover, and pillow (optional)
Motion detecting alarm (optional)

If it was a professional paint job, the tails and everything else would be masked off when the trim was sprayed... And as long as they painted the trim to the stock color, the interior would have the same paint as well...

I'm not 100% sure about this but doesn't the 10ae have square-holed aero mirrors and the only other 2nd gen aero mirrors are on the S5 with the round hole through them?

No the 10AE had the same mirrors as any other S4 TII or Vert... All S4 TII's and Vert's had the rectangular holes, and all S5 models had the round holes...
