difference between s4 and s5 N/A motor

I am just curious as to what the differences are between the motors and why the s5 motor can rev up higher....

is it just the powerband b/c of the vdi or are there other differences in the motor that allow it to run that high without going boooom

I am asking cause on my 87 sport I am still making good power up till about 7900 rpmom what it looks like....

the 87-88's can run as high as the 89-91's, but the rotors are a little beefier in the S4's and are a little heavier so its not as easy. its a little easier with lighter rotors to get higher rpms

So if I put 89-91 Rotors in my '86 motor would it have the same effect?
