diff wont go out
hey so i'm trying to take out my diff. i unbolted it from the driveshaft and unhooked the axles and took off the bolts on the mounts. but it wont come down. i was told to just wrestle it. which it did work but still nothing. it just gets stuck.. pretty annoying and im doing it right now (2:34 pacific) if you have any ideas or something it would be appreciated. ill try them right now.

You have to be missing something. That thing should fall right out.
Are you dropping the subframe at the same time? It's WAAAAAAY easier to drop both.
Just undo the two small subframe cap bolts then the two big front ones.
remove the brake calipers and hang them up against the struts.Unbolt/Bang off lower strut mount.
Unbolt the lateral link/Sublink
Unbolt the two big diff nuts
let a jack bring it down.
if your trying to pull just the diff then maybe you forgot the front diff mount nuts. Which i recommend replacing, the front diff mount, and adding a pinion snubber to save you grief later on.

OK, I'm going to anwer the question to clear this cloud of confusion
Jack up the rear of the car, put on jack stands
Remove the left rear tire
Remove the Y pipe
Pull the bottom bolt out of the center link
Remove the four 14MM bolts where each of the half shafts meet the diff
Remove the 14MM bolts that mount the driveshaft to the diff
Remove the sub frame support bolt (19MM as I recall) and 14MM bolt that holds the bracket.
Push down on the Sub frame to expose the two 17MM bolts that hold the diff front mount in place.
Get about every extenstion for your wratchet you have, and probably borrow more so you can reach the two 17MM front mount bolts and remove them. Probably will need a pipe to slide on the wratchet so you can achieve enough leverage to break them loose.
There is also a plate that slides over the two studs that the two 17MM bolts mount to. Remove it as well. You'll probably have to jack up the front of the sub frame a bit to give it enough slack to get it off.
Remove the bolts at each of the Diff's ears. You'll probably want to use the jack to support the diff while you remove them so the diff doesn't fall on your face. That would not be a good thing and could be very painful.
The following is best if you have a friend involved.
Push up on the foward most part of the diff mount to lift the two bolts out of the bracket slots then slide the diff rearward as you drop it down. I again suggest you use the jack to support as it's being lowered. It actually isn't that heavy if you use two hands
To reinstall, work from the above list in reverse order.
Have fun.
And, one more suggestion to the OP. PLEASE use the search button! I promise most every how-to you can think of is in the forum archives several times over.

yeah... so i did miss 1 freaking bolt it was some stupid freaking bracket. i took everything out except ONE BOLT AHHHHHHHHHHHH! it was frustrating lol but its out now. what the hell is the purpose for those brackets and stuff? to help hold up the exhaust and what else? Isn't the 2 big circle things + the driftshaft + axles keep the diff from falling and crap? those brackets were freakin annoying

To clarify, you don't need to remove the whole center link, just the lower mounting nut and bolt.
Bracket? Not quite sure of this reference, but there is a firm purpose to everything. So recommend you reinstall everything.
