diferential front mount!

hey guys ! for about a week or so i have a lot of vibration from the rear wheels ! , i was thinking that it was the motor mounts but when i went to the parts counter i was talking to a good rotorhead and told me that they dont usually go bad, he told me to check the front diferential mount and i really think that is my problem! now ! it's gonna cost me $144 and i'm broke! so he told me to get one in the junkyard and weld it together ! i know it gonna work! Know my question is if i have to bring down that crossmember that it holds the diferential to replace the mount ? thanx for any help!

The Mazdasports version from mazdaformance.com is considerably cheaper.

To remove the diff, and get to the bolts for the front diff mount, you will need to at very least unbolt the left side of the subframe and the subframe link and pull the subframe down on the left side. This will allow you to access the bolts for the front diff mount.

This is also covered in the FSM and the Haynes manuals as well as been covered quite a few times here. You may wish to search next time using the search function found in the upper right hand corner fo this page, or download or use one of the shop manuals (found in the FAQ for FC at the top of this section).

The change isn't hard. It's just time consuming because you have to pull the subframe about 6 inches to get at the bolts.

I've done this 3 times. The first time took me around 6 hours.

The last time took me about 12 but that's because I had to weld in a new bracket for the subframe.
BE SURE TO TIGHTEN THAT DOWN!!! or you will have play and it can rip and bend the metal mount off!!!!!Doh!!
