did you replace your motor mounts
when you rebuilt your engine, replace the motor mounts as well? i probably would but i was just curious to see if you absolutely had to

Yeah I would, on all of the motors I've pulled they have just split in half because of the years of oil eating away at them. Its easier than when the motor is in because you have to support the engine to change them.

Yeah, like they said, mine were trashed. One was completely split in half.
I went with Scalliwag's machined solid mounts on the engine and tranny.
They are just fine for daily driving, don't listen to all the nay-sayers that think they are too hard.

I've got the Mazda competition mounts, like stock, but stiffer. They're good and stiff, but don't trasmit vibrations very much at all, which is what more solid types will do.

On the parts car I had, both mounts were busted in half... the engine would rock back and forth.. real scary.
So yes.. I would say if they are the original motor mounts and you have over 100k miles.. yes.. its time to replacement regardless. Mazda comp mounts FTW... On mazdatrix.com they are actually a couple bucks less than OEM ones.
