did you replace your motor mounts

when you rebuilt your engine, replace the motor mounts as well? i probably would but i was just curious to see if you absolutely had to

iluvmy3rdgen 09-29-07 12:22 PM

Only if they are bad.

876portturbo 09-29-07 12:24 PM

Yeah I would, on all of the motors I've pulled they have just split in half because of the years of oil eating away at them. Its easier than when the motor is in because you have to support the engine to change them.

Davidov 09-29-07 12:42 PM

Yeah, like they said, mine were trashed. One was completely split in half.
I went with Scalliwag's machined solid mounts on the engine and tranny.

They are just fine for daily driving, don't listen to all the nay-sayers that think they are too hard.

13bchris 09-30-07 11:35 PM

how do you guys feel about polyurethane vs. solid mounts???

Black91n/a 10-01-07 12:03 AM

I've got the Mazda competition mounts, like stock, but stiffer. They're good and stiff, but don't trasmit vibrations very much at all, which is what more solid types will do.

About time! + you have one ripped motor mount anyways.

Carzy Driver 10-01-07 12:38 AM

I should have but I didn't.. solids here I come!!

Shainiac 10-01-07 12:44 AM

Polys arent that bad at all. I have Banzai poly engine and tranny mounts and it is relatively smooth, especially compared to the ripped stock mount!

micah 10-01-07 01:00 AM

On the parts car I had, both mounts were busted in half... the engine would rock back and forth.. real scary.

So yes.. I would say if they are the original motor mounts and you have over 100k miles.. yes.. its time to replacement regardless. Mazda comp mounts FTW... On mazdatrix.com they are actually a couple bucks less than OEM ones.

Carzy Driver 10-01-07 12:51 PM

there's always a hockey puck aswell.. if you're cheap and bored

V8slayer 10-01-07 04:52 PM

solid ones on e bay,......they are great, a little vibration but who cares......girls like it

GohtretFC 10-10-07 12:36 PM

Nevermind I figured it out.

micah 10-10-07 12:38 PM

You have to order two.

Jager 10-10-07 12:53 PM

Yes.

I did the Banzai setup.

stylEmon 10-10-07 01:32 PM

Polyuethane mounts!

Syncro 10-10-07 01:40 PM

I replaced with stock rubber mounts...

Should have gone with the competition mounts :)

I'm going to buy those for my turbovert once the engine goes back in!

fc pro am 10-10-07 02:33 PM

FC3S Murray 11-25-07 01:17 PM
