Did bad things to my TII. Need opinions.

Well I bought this Turbo II a while back. Had a good amount of things done to it, just needed a clutch BAD. So I dropped in my ACT 6 puk and had the time of my life. 6 days later on the highway I hit 19 psi. About 10 seconds later I was driving a lawnmower. Now here's my dillema. I want my car back on the road sooo bad. I can save up until Christmas and get my $3000 Pineapple Racing ported rebuild and thats all. Or I can get a J-spec, a Front Mount IC, S-AFC and injectors and wait on the "real" motor untill next summer. Im leanin towards the J-spec that way I'll have everything I need when its time for another motor.

Let me know what you guys think I should do. I have to walk by my car every day. I can almost hear the N1's screaming.

Thanx alot~Matt

19 psi ? Thats A LOT of boost. Hmmm, come to think of it, I'm close to 14psi myself now, without ANY fuel mods

I'd say "wait", but who am I to talk ? I rebuilt my turbo because I couldnt wait 2 weeks for a "new" turbo to be shipped from Japan or US

If you buy the JSpec and then also a ported rebuilt, then you'd be spending money for no reason (other than to put the Rex on the road). Its your call actually....

Get the rebuild. Its better to do things right the first time than doing them twice. Also saves you a grand.

Rebuild. Get it ported and done right. You don't know the history of a used J-Spec. It could last a week or a decade, you just don't know. A rebuild usually comes w/ a warranty and peace of mind that you have a quality piece in your engine bay. How in the hell did you hit 19psi? What mods do you have?

I could probably do a rebuild for you for a bit over the price of a jspec.

19psi...that's a shitload of boost, especially from the stock turbo.Intake air temps killed you, no doubt.

I say Jspec with the SAFC and front mount. If you do not know how to tune properly, it would be better to have a "cheap" (everything is relative, you know) motor installed, in case you made a boo-boo with the SAFC. Then next summer drop in the built motor, after you have the SAFC properly tuned.

just my thought

Let Kevin build your motor. He does all my work and is honest, quick and fair.
You cannot go wrong with Rotary Resurrection....
He has one of my cars now. And you can ask him I live 5hours away and nobody touchs my car but him when it comes to stuff like this... nobody.

I would only hit 15 psi around town but it was the first time I opened it up on the highway, and the last. I had my eyes on the road and felt the car shake. Looked at my guage and let off. About 10 seconds later it lost all its power. Still made it home and it starts right up but its definatly blown. All my friends are braggin how they are runnin 14's at the track and I just keep quiet cause my 13 second (hopefully) car is hurt. I think im gonna go with a J spec for now or give Kevin a call. I'd like to drive it again before winter.

Does anyone know if any place have J spec's in stock?

I've heard stories both good and bad about J-Spec. Understand going this way will be a gamble and it may cost you more in the long run.

My opinion: Buy the best and only cry once. Good luck.
