Diagnosing fuel problem
Can someone help diagnose problems with my fuel system? I just installed a jdm tII engine into my car. I just used the shortblock, so all the usdm manifolds and hardware were transfered over. The problem i am having is that when the car is turned to the on position, no fuel is priming. It only flows when i try to start the car...is this normal?

Perfectly normal. The fuel pump only runs when the engine is either cranking (key in START position) or running. If you want to bleed air out or check the fuel system for leaks you have to jusmper the yellow 2-pin check connector beside the front right strut tower and turn the ignition on. Make sure you remove the jumper wire when you're done.

Thanks for the reply.
Is it true that the fuel feed and return are reversed on JDM motors? I thought i read that somewhere, but i am not sure. It could be that or my injectors arent firing. When i checked the compression of the rotors, I did not smell any fuel.

ok answer this where are these two hoses going to...
1- from the upper fuel rail to what...
2- from the lower fuel rail to what...
theres a fuel line w/a fuel filter on it and a regular fuel line just above the steering shaft....just trace those back to where they are connected to ..this should make it easy to find out if they are back ward or not

hey i'm in the same boat, i just pick up my 88 rx7 n/a, and i'm getting fuel pressure all the way to the injectors, but i guess the injectors aren't pumpin it out or not getting a signal, IDK i'm new to everything. but once i get some starter fuild and spray in it, starts and runs till it runs out of fuild.

IF the fuel lines are on right, then when you jumper the fuel pump check connector with the key to ON, you should be able to HEAR the fuel passing thru the fuel rails back to the tank.
Don't hear it? Then the fuel lines are on wrong, ASSUMING the pump is running.

wow i would love to hear the result of this cause i cant keep mine running at all. it starts everytime after a few seconds of cranking but will only run for a few seconds. it will stay running as long as im spraying starting fluid but dont want to cause any damage with that ****. on my full jdm engine/manifolds/lines/etc. the hard line in the rats nest thats furthest forward is the supply line and the rear most is the return to the best of my knowledge. but mine wouldnt even try to start when i had them hooked up the other way.
