Depower air pump?
Depower air pump?
I just put in my aftermarket cold air intake to replace the stock air box in my fc. After switching them over, I realized I had an extra hose which I can't hook up to the cold air intake leading to the air pump. Considering that I don't need emissions tested for another year, is there any way to just depower the air pump and not have to remove it? What are my options with the cold air intake? Currently I have a loud vacuum noise coming from the air pump which I would like to get rid of, either by giving it an air source or depowering it, preferably the latter.
You can remove the hose to the air pump and put a little filter directly on it. Something like this: http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=62-1570
That'll help muffle some of the noise.
I've not heard of gutting it, just removing it. Since you've got an S4, you can remove it. Then when it's time to emissions test, replace it. You'll need a dual sheave alternator pully though so you can run 2 belts, otherwise you'll get water pump slippage, which is bad. If you do a search you should be able to find all the necessary info on what you need to do when you remove the airpump.

If you want, you could just remove the belt.... If you dont mind the uselessness of it just sitting there, and not overly concerned about losing the 20 some odd lbs i would imagine it would get rid of. I wouldnt, mostly cuz my hoods never open, and i could lose more than 20 lbs of weight from my car just from taking the garbage out lol.
