Arrow RTek and TII upgrade question??

Ok guys i have a 88 TII i just done a compression test and got 100 psi per rotor so i figured it was time to upgrade a bit. Ive already had my injectors cleaned and serviced buy witchhunters and have a custom exhaust from the turbo back consisting of 2.5in pipe, no cat and two ebay mufflers. I hit fuel cut if i punch it so I want to get a rtek. My question is wat other upgrades to i need when i have it installed, i was planning on getting the 1.5 for now. Do I need a bigger fuel pump or a safc or wideband???? i would really like some clarrification on wat these things do. Im a noob as far as fuel and engine control mods go so someone School me please....

O and before someone says tune up its been done as per the archives and related threads, and the car runs perfect other than i hit fuel cut when i get on it.....

I would say it really depends on what your going for in the overall picture.

If you looking to just get rid of that fuel cut then all you need is an FCD. I am sure some will say you might want a wideband and tuner so you can make sure you have the correct fuel/air ratios.

Larger injectors and fuel pump I would say you need if you wanted to up the boost.

Yes but no point in spending that much money if all you need is an FCD.

Depends on how much you want to up the boost. Plenty of members here have run on the stockers with increased boost but better have plenty of other equipment to correct the air fuel.

Plus if you had 720's in the sec. and you up the boost then you can do the RTek 1.7 and be alot safer.

You can pick up a used FCD for like $30 or so depending on the person selling.

O and another question is that my problem with getting just a fcd is that with a better exhaust and intake that will raise the boost so you have to have more fuel correct? If so how much is addiquate?

I am not sure how much extra fuel would be needed if any to be honest. I have an 87 T2 and I had the 3" exhaust from turbo back with intake and FCD for probably 6 months or so and had no problems.

Right now I am running around 10psi of boost.

87 T2

3" Motoria Single Exit Exhaust
255 Walbro Fuel Pump
720 Sec. Injectors
AVC-R Electronic Boost Controller
Ported Wastgate
Rtek 1.7

lol I believe thats it right. I lose track sometimes as it seems I have been installing parts more than driving the car.

I am unsure if I will just get a SAFC2 or the Rtek 2.0. I will probably go with the 2.0 for ease of install and 1 less thing sitting around the car.

Wideband I am going with the AEM Uego 6-in-1 gauge.

For now the 1.7 is working good as Digital Tuning said the Rtek 1.7 will control the air/fuel up to 12psi boost.

wat is the ideal air fuel ratio for these cars, or is that too broad of a question, and will a simple narrowband work for me?

and is your car running real rich at all, wat kinda hp numbers are u getting?

O and does the rtek 1.5 and 1.7 adjust your af ratio to ideal stats for up to 12psi like you said or do you have to adjust it yourself??

sry for all the questions but theyve been floating around in my head for awhile now

youve been very helpful!!!

Well I would probably say I am running rich but not 100% sure as I have not yet got the wideband to install it.

Some of the air/fuel can depend on the air pump and acv on wether they are still installed or not as it can change the reading to the O2 sensor.

As for correct air/fuel...it is kind of broad as running a certain amount rich or clean can affect the performance as well as reliability.

The narrowband style Air/Fuel gauges will work but best to wire them in at the ECU for a better reading.

As for the Rtek and adjustments it does it on it's own as far as the air/fuel adjustments. I won't run the 12 psi on it as I don't want to chance it until I get the 2.0 swap done.

From your list I would say it will run fine. Your boost will go up but nothing extreme. With my boost controller off I still only see maybe 6psi.

You can't go with the 1.7 unless you upgrade your secondary injectors to 720's though.

The 1.5 version is for 4 550's and the 1.7 has to have 550 primaries and 720 secondaries or above.
