On a related note:
What's a good way to get pinstripes off w/o tearing up the paint?

This is kinda risky but you may want to lightly sand it away and then go back and polish the shine back out.

I tried removing the Mazda decal once. It came off in little 1mmx1mm squares. So when I had the car repainted I didn't have another one put on.

The front "Mazda" decal on my 88 SE is staying off. So are the "SE" logos as well. I like an unmarked car.

Pinstripes are easy to get off:

It takes a sharp, small razorblade, alot of patience, and a hair dryer.

Carefully heat the pinstripe at the end. Use the razorblade if necessary, sometimes you won't even need that. Peel the warm pinstripe up slowly. Keep heating as you go along.

Go to a body supply shop and buy a molding remover. Its like a big eraser wheel. Chuck it in a drill and go to town. Won't harm the paint, all you have to do it wax or buff it after you're done to blend it in...

Yea, you all think to hard, lol...a hair dryer works just fine. I've used it to remove many MANY pinstripes on other cars. It heats up the "goo" behind the decal, then you'll just have to wipe off the extra glue.
