Dead tach, no trailing spark, code 01- S5 N/A

A little background- The car hasn't run quite right since the day I bought it, The previous owner had the car rebuilt and streetported by a reputable shop about 3000 miles ago. The car's been a bit of an electrical nightmare, I've had issues with the wiper relay(Thanks Icemark), blower motor, gauges, AFM, horrid splice work for the SAFC, etc. Seems like every time I fix something I find something else wrong in the process.

Today I went about fixing the last remaining CEL code (09-Water Thermosensor.) The connectors had come out of the harness. I reinserted them, plugged the harness back into the sensor, put the alternator back on, connected the battery, and thought to myself 'That was easy'.

I start the car, it runs much worse than it did with the thermosensor d/ced and the tach's dead, check engine light is still on. I check the codes again- 01 Ignition coil(Trailing side), but hey, at least the code for the thermosensor is gone

I reset the ECU, and no codes popped up, but every time I start the car 01 comes back. I took the alternator back off, and checked the area I was working in for anything disconnected, but found nothing. I have no reason to suspect the coils are dead, they worked fine earlier in the day before I fixed the thermosensor. I checked the plugs, neither looked fouled, the plug wires are newish and appear to be in excellent condition. I'm kinda at a loss for where to go from here.

Problem seems similar to This guy's except no starter issues, battery cables are fine. Only thing I can come up with on this possibility is that my battery is a little on the weak side(9-10ish volts) could this send the car into limp mode?

Looks like 03- Crank Angle Sensor(G signal) and 11- Intake Air Thermosensor(Engine)

Edit: I would've responded to your original thread if id've known it'd play in quicktime, I refuse to download realplayer, it's spyware.

Edit some more: might be codes 1 and 10 instead of 11, the vid's pretty low quality

Bump

I'm starting to entertain the idea that the ecu is gone, but why all the sudden? My multimeter has died so I won't be able to test it until my next paycheck when I can buy a new multimeter. I took the ecu apart just to check it visually, it looks to be pristine.

Hate to state the obvious, but did you check to make sure the trailing coil is still good?

tach runs off the trailing ..try a different set of wires..no spark no tach..,ever think it could be plugs (fouled or defective) ..new plugs?....sometimes it's just the little things..(hope that's the case here)

I don't think it's the coil, but I have not tested them. Every time I've seen coils go bad it's been a slow process, starting with misses when the engine's warm, but in this case the coils were firing fine, and then on the next start no spark. At this point I'm thinking ECU, or possibly I pulled something down the line from the alternator, and the ECU isn't getting suffecient power for reference voltage. Unfortunatly I won't be home until tommorow to investigate further, but I'll update the situation then.

Well I found the problem today, one of the crappy splices the previous owner did for the SAFC had come loose. Now I've just got to put the air pump on and get the 5/6 ports and vdi working, another mess the previous owner left me. With the big street port the thing runs like crap up until 3500RPM, but then it sings, and I go
