dash lights goin crazy D: halp mehhh

i bought a 1990 rx7 turbo. I have had this car for about 6 months and it hasnt had many problems till just recently.

If my car is running at idle, my car works fine, that being my stereo working and all of my dash lights are off. But if i get my RPM's above idle, all my dash light turn on and my sub overloads and shuts off. Dash lights being my brake light, hatch light, door light, abs, etc.

Anyone ever had any problems like this? Any fixes? I've really got no idea what's wrong, but i don't want to have to take it to a mechanic unless i really have to.

any help is appreciated, thanks

Sounds like your alternator. Hit it with a hammer see if that helps.

As stated, its likely the alternator acting up for some reason. Could be as simple as the belt being too loose. Check the link below for tests which should help to narrow down your problem.

yes, hammer!

side note, previous owner of my car did a battery relocate. i never noticed the crappy cabling job, so when the car wouldnt start, spindex would kick out but not turn the car over i thought i had a bad starter. smacked it with a hammer and no joy. checked voltage, seemed ok. replaced starter, no joy. chased wires and whatcha guess, retarded cabling.

hammers only fix some issues, but is a viable quick check option!
