Dash Kit
Hey guys, I need to know where to get a dash kit for my CD player that actually is of decent quality. I have the Metra kit right now and it just looks so cheap, and the CD player doesnt sit in it correctly, what kit do you guys recommend???

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
build your own.
use the stock brackets, ISO mount the radio, cut a trim panel out from some black plexi glass or aluminum.

I use to work in car audio and found there are not too many companies that make good kits for our cars. I however found a metal one in a junk car that looks good and works great only if I knew who made it.

What I did: I used the stock metal mounting brackets from the factory radio. I then sanded down the trim ring of the aftermarket unit so that it would fit inside the stock radio opening (like the stock unit does), then I also added a Din size pocket under the unit.

The Crotchfield kit is the Metra. If you want something better, you'll have to make it yourself. I definately like Icemarks idea. Use the factory brackets and isolation bushings like they use for hard drives. That'll keep your CD from skipping every time you get within 10ft of a pebble. Then cut a filler panel out of black ABS or plexi. Now if only I could find my old brackets...

i just shoved my cd player in the open area left once the stock one was removed. I attached a block-off plate to the top 1/2 that was still open. no mounting kit required! lol

the part that the screws actually contact with to hold the kits in place?
pretty much ALL mine have cracked and the guage holder/cd holder that i bought from 1fastt2 or whoever sits all funny cause its not held in by all the screws
am i **** out of luck or has anyone come across this and corrected it ?

I have two of the metal kits here in my shop. They have a din sized cutout for the radio and the rest is black metal. They are made by Autosound Mfg, I dunno how old they are, but it looks to be quite old and probably oop. I have one on hold for myself, but if you are interested in one PM me.
