Dash and console lights out, cant see at night

My dash and console lights are out and I cant see how fast I'm going, my RPMS, or even see my console to adjust my heat... Its REALLY irritating and I feel as if I'm driving blind! Could it be something to do with the fact that my stereo was stolen (yanked out)? Cause it hasnt worked since then. I got out the Haynes manual and tried to track it down.. The only thing I could find is a connector with a red wire and green stripe (console light wire) and a black wire (ground wire) that goes to a wierd connector thats circular in shape and looks like you attach it, and turn it to lock it so it cant come out. This connector is in the area of the stereo and I have no idea where it goes.. Looks like it might go to a small light.. Any help is greatly appriciated!

Sure its not all your parking lights???

Pretty common to blow the tail fuse or have the switch go bad after 15 years.

First, check the fuse for the lights (top row, second fuse from the left, 10A, in the fusebox under the dash. If this is ok, check your taillights. If they are working, you either have a bad headlight switch or a short pulling everything down. The lights in the area of your stereo are the cigarette lighter illumination and logicon illumination, both supplied by a red/green stripe wire. Good luck!

Ok, I checked the fuses, and rechecked... all good... Tails work fine as do the break lights.. The switch works cause they turn on the headlights and driving lights. So WTF? Any othe suggestions? Maybe I should just strip the dash and make one out of aluminum... I should find it then huh?

My switch went out in my '87. The headlights, tail, and parking lights all worked, just no dash lights. I bought a used switch over the internet and had it sitting around for over a year before I bothered to put it in, sure was nice to have lights again!

Cool, I'll have to try that.... I've got an extra dash console and all the switches lying around in my garage somewhere.

this is *exactly* one of the problems that my car has.
you turn the round light switch on, and everything comes on, cigarette lighter, glove box, headlights etc, everything works, except for the dash lights. haven't had them in ages, we've pulled the thing apart that many times....i always assumed that the swith was fine b/c it was powering up everything else...
glad i read this! i'm going to get myself a new switch assembly first thing monday..
******* switch...

It happenned to me last night. I get in my car and my dash, console, and headlights don't come on (headlights come on with high beams though). I'm thinking great, attack of the gremlins so I drive off and some dude pulls up to me at a light and tells me that I have no taillights. I pull over and it looks like the man was right. ****!!! I drive home hoping that a cop doesn't get behind me and notice. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet but if its not fuses what can it be?
