MD The Dark Side

I am not a massive poster here, especially with my multiple surgeries over the past year or so, but I have recently gone to the dark side and purchased a Nissan 300zx Twin turbo for a daily so that I can convert my S4 87 N/A fc to the lightest "race" build possible. Any advice? Ive already removed the air conditioning and heater core and am in the process of stripping ALL the interior out, including the dash. My goal is 210+ wheel horsepower with no turbo but I'm not sure at this point if that is realistic, even with straight pipes and all the extra weight stripped out. Anyone have any advice? I'm in Bowie in the Prince Georges County area and would really like to end with a widebody kit and the exhaust ending right after the front fenders but I'm not sure what else I should be looking to do here. The engine is running about 30,000 miles and the chassis is at 140,000. Obviously suspension is a necessary upgrade but the final goal is more drift/autox rather than drag. Any comments/help is appreciated.

If you want more than 200whp you'll have to ditch the stock intake manifolds. They were making 220+ on carbed street ported 12a's way back. Which reminds me, you'll probably want to build another engine. Porting is the only way to make power n/a (unless you want to run nitrous) so unless its already ported, you'll want to do that. You'll also want to swap to the higher compression s5 rotors to make achieving your goal even easier.

Check out the n/a performance section of the forum

**Oh, and weight has no bearing on horsepower btw.

Buying a 300Zx is not going to the Darkside.
it's getting a parts getter!
Darkside is swapping out your rotary engine'd Rx7 for a V-8....Or asking a Guy named Bubbah out on a date!

Fair point...the only reason I felt bad about it was because for the same price I could've easily picked up an FD...I just realized I wanted something *slightly* more reliable for a daily than a twin turbo rotary that was 18+ years old. Hardly here nor there...Also, with regards to weight, I thought I had read somewhere that the equivalent horsepower gain for weight loss was some 10lbs for an equivalent 1 horsepower? Maybe I misunderstood what I was reading, but as I understand it, weight loss is never a bad thing to enhance performance.

if your plans were to gut it and make it full race trim an FC is a better platform anyways.

i don't think its quite that linear, but yes the lighter it is the faster you can accelerate, turn and brake
