Damaged Wheel

Improperly torqued lug nuts. The tire barely stayed on the car held on by one lug nug holding onto a couple of threads. I jacked up the car, borrowed some of the lugs and despite the damaged lugs, torqued them all down tight and got the car home.... it was a long drive.

It goes without saying that all the studs need replacing.

But do I need to replace the wheel as well? Here's a photo of the backside of the wheel showing the damage to the lug holes.

I'd certainly replace it.

Factory wheels are easy to locate. I bet you could find 1 for free or cheap.

Is it hub-centric though? If a couple of the lugs are off, will it matter so long as it centers itself on the center hub?

So far I haven't been able to find one that had the same finish.

If anyone has a the ten spoke with the cast finish (not the smooth shiney) in Florida, let me know.

Eh... it looks like things wore a little unevenly, but I personally wouldn't hesitate to drive on that wheel with some new lugs, at least until you can find a replacement.

Better pics might make it easier to see any potential damage, though.

Well the thing is that while the wheels are hubcentric, the holes are now off, which could cause the nuts to seat differently, which will cause extra bending stress on the studs, which could lead to failure. Replace the wheel.
