Daily driver?

Hi All

I don't know much about these cars (yet).

I've stumbled across a nice 1987 RX7 GLX. It has been meticulously maintained. It has no rust/corrosion anywhere. It has only done 55K miles. It has recently been serviced.

Would this be a reliable daily driver? Or what should I expect from a car like that?

I intend to use it to get to work every day (40 miles a day).

How often will I be late for work?

Cheers

Kristian

I've daily driven mine for almost 3 years now. I wouldnt recommend doing it 40 miles a day though. You'll put a lot of wear on the car fast that way and FC's get crap gas mileage too.
(17mpg in town for me)

Dude, I've had my GXL (not glx) for almost 7 years. It has only broke down once, when one of the oil cooler lines broke, wouldnt hold any oil, happened at home so i was lucky.

You have to do the maintenance though you may need a radiator, or to replace old exhaust components, or suspension, or clutch. Dont expect it to be a no maintenance kind of car at this age. It is worth it though believe me.

The gas milage is decent but again do the maintenance, and keep her tuned up and you can expect around 20 if you keep the revs below four and your foot light on the gas, maybe better. If you gun it you can expect significantly less.

Well like said above you won't get the best mileage (my personal best is 24.3 on a roadtrip, with an SAFC II). But I almost guarantee you won't be late for work, you'll probably find yourself getting to work early.
