Cutting out prob, new RX, some help?
Cutting out prob, new RX, some help?
O.K., so here's the deal: I just recently bought a 1987 rx-7 from a buddy of mine. He said the throw-out bearing was bad, had the tranny out and a new clutch kit in the back. So, I installed the throw-out bearing, threw everything together and got 'er started. Started O.K., took a little bit, but I expected that considering it had been sitting for about a year probably. Well the clutch slipped like mad, which isn't a problem for me considering I have the rest of the clutch kit still and a new clutch in my parts car. Anyways, it sputters a lot when ever I floor it, even after it's fully warmed up. I noticed a little bit of linkage is missing on the carb, and the secondaries aren't hooked up. I was hoping maybe someone on here had at least a slightly similar setup, or could help me figure out what the deal is. Mostly it cuts out in the higher RPMs, but is fine if I feather the throttle. Oh, and I am also running a premix using 2-stroke oil since with no EFI there is no injector injecting motor oil.
If anyone could help out at all, I would greatly appreciate it.

Forgot to mention this, but the car also has an MSD ignition setup. It is definitely missing on one rotor, you can hear it at all RPMs. I tried pulling the plugs, checking over the wires, making sure everything was tight, etc, with no success. Can anyone help me out with any helpful input? Most of the mods are listed in my sig.
