Cut Washers Off Of Spark Plugs??

What exactly does this help? Everyone seems to be doing it, and I am compiling a list of stuff to do this weekend, so does it help a lot or what??

What did you use to cut them off?

How is it possible that the leading would be o.k. but the trailing to close? The plugs are lined up in exactly the same place and the rotors are lined up perfectly the same as far as I know. So how could there be more room on the leading side.

there are two of these threads and I am still curious as to why the leading is and different than the trailing.

The leading plug hole is the diameter of the spark plug all the way to the chamber. The trailing just has a small hole, 1/8" im pretty sure, right in the middle of the spark plug hole. I can get you a pipcture if you want.

Is this really worth it?
I just figure the washers might be there for a reason....
If anyone knows the volume of the combustion chamber at TDC, and the mass of the air in it under compression (amount that gets sucked in on intake stroke), give them to me and I can spit out the actual compression increase numbers, and I can extrapolate an approximate HP increase for the average condition engine.

I just want to see if there's actually a measurable difference.
Thanks

I'm not quite so sure that everyone's looking for increased compression so much as getting the spark a little bit closer. iunno, just a thought.

I know every bit helps, and not every induvidual mod can be felt independately, but has anyone noticed a difference in engine smoothness, power, whatever?
Please don't get me wrong- I AM NOT DOUBTING ANYONE!!! I have done plenty of mods that have no noticable effect by themselves, but add in their part to the greater good... Like smoothing the inside of the air intake pipe...
I am just curious.

I noticed a very slight increase in low end power. It revved a little quicker on the bottom of the powerband. It cant hurt, and it only takes a few minutes, so why not?
