Two things here..

First of all, FCs pretty well kissed there gas milage goodbye when they were created...

Secondly, why would that hurt gas milage? There is no more wind restriction there then on a standard hatch...

With a rear hatch like that, your side rear blind spots would become about 2.5x bigger . .

yea blind spots would increase, but i look out the window anyway...
the FD hatch looks rather strange :-P
but hey, it's a concept.
yea, gas milage? for an FC? for a rotary engine? who are you kidding?... lol

The air flow going over the roof would drop off dramatically, think of it now as having two rear ends that the air gets f'ed up at. The more drag there is, the less mpg's you see.

Actually if you want to eliminate blind spots switch over to the RE aero mirrors. they hug up aginst the car and work really well, just take some time to get used to
